Books

Co-Active Coaching: new Skills for Coaching People Towards Success in Work and Life, Laura Whitworth, Henry Kimsey-House, Phil Sandahl. A book written for coaches, but a great and thorough introduction to coaching.

Coaching, Evoking Excellence in Others, James Flaherty. A philosophically grounded book about coaching. Again, focused on coaches, but a great reference for someone interested in knowing the basis for good coaching.

Sacred Practices for Conscious Living, Nancy J. Napier. A fantastic book that combines meditative practice with great ideas about how to address daily living.

Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman. A book that explores the physiological bases for emotion, and how emotion can affect our lives in a positive (or negative) way and how to make it work for us.

Authentic Happiness : Using the New Positive Psychology to Realize Your Potential for Lasting Fulfillment, Martin Seligman. Another book by the author of Learned Optimism, focusing on positive psychology. A good read.

Taming Your Gremlin (Revised Edition): A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way, Rick Carson. A book that focuses on how to deal with self-defeating behaviors.

Coach Yourself: Make Real Change in Your Life, Tony Grant, Jane Green. I know, it seems weird for a coach to recommend a self-coaching book, but it's worth a read to see how powerful coaching can be.

The Heart of Coaching: Using Transformational Coaching to Create a High-Performance Culture (2nd Edition), Thomas Crane, Lerissa Patrick. Although I haven't gotten to this one yet, it is rated 5 stars by all reviews on Amazon. Might be worth a look.

Teacher's Pet: Clarity, Choice, and Action in Your Career by Miriam Bamberger, Heather Bradley. A book highly recommended for people interested in seeing how the coaching process works.

Bringing order to your life can help you focus on what's most important.
